Project Management

Phase Zero Partners project managers have decades of experience managing strategic implementation across multiple industries, including banking, financial services, fintechs, telecommunications, and healthcare. Our varied experience has led to the development of a simplified project management methodology that lets us quickly embed with your team and provide immediate value.

The 1+5 Stages of Project Management

Phase 0: Pre-Initiation

  • Phase 0 is about setting the stage for your projects success. It’s understanding your project process, how to engage your key team members and vendors, and the unique constraints and risks that could keep your project from succeeding

  • Phase Zero Partners can integrate with your existing process or bring ours, if it’s beneficial to your organization. We focus on rapidly learning your organizational dynamics so we prepare your teams for success before you even sign your first charter.

Phase 1: Initiation

  • Initiation is where it all begins. You have an idea or a problem and you are looking for ways to resolve it. This means having a clear vision of what your problem is and what it means to resolve that issue. Then you can start the actual work to resolve it.

  • We can help guide your teams through problem definition, prioritizing potential solutions, and creating a clear vision of success. We can also help with managing the process of evaluating and selecting vendors, as well as negotiating vendor contracts

Phase 2: Planning

  • A solid plan is the core of the Execution phase. Even the simplest of projects deserves some advanced thought about how your team is going to come together to execute your vision. Planning encompasses every aspect of your project, including communications, project execution, and testing.

  • As a team of long-time, professional project managers we understand how to build accurate plans that can flex as required. We provide a clear path to create usable planning documentation based on inputs from your internal teams and vendors.

Phase 3: Execution

  • Execution is the phase most people think of when they think of project management. It is the important work that happens between the time you stop planning and the time you go live. Team coordination and communication are key at this phase. Once you take vendors and testing into account, it’s not uncommon to have a single project that touches 10+ teams.

  • We tailor our execution strategy to the project and the teams involved. If we are embedding with an existing PMO we execute based on your process. If there is no standard methodology we have a simplified project management methodology we can deploy that focuses on clear communication and deliverable management. We offer execution templates that can integrate with your existing systems or be made accessible to your team.

Phase 4: Monitoring

  • The Monitoring phase is often overlooked when it comes to managing your project. This critical time between Go Live and project handoff is when you are resolving issues and validating functionality with your customer at stake. If the project involves vendors, this phase will include any direct support window that is specified in the vendor contract.

  • Our approach to the Monitoring phase is to ensure we maintain the same level of focus and action that we did through the Execution phase. Our team ensures that issues are tracked consistently, prioritized properly, and resolved efficiently. We offer execution templates that can integrate with your existing systems or be made accessible to your team.

Phase 5: Closing

  • A proper Closing process is valuable in two ways. First, there is a clean hand-off of responsibility from the project team to the business lines that will be supporting the process going forward. Second, you take the time to evaluate the project method and plan improvements for future projects.

  • Our closing goals are to deliver the best possible hand-off experience for your team. We focus on future re-usability for your project assets. We can help deliver documentation packages for the business lines that will be taking over your project along with facilitating lessons learned exercises for your future use.
